DoctorBill For me there is a better solution to turning off autoplay than through a plugin for turning off autoplay, and it is built in to SeaMonkey: First go to the Location Bar of the browser window and type "about:config" without the quotation marks. Then press return. In the page that comes up search for "media.autoplay.enabled" and set it to false. This will turn off autoplay. I have used this setting for years. When I want to view video on a web page or at youtube I simply click on the video's play button. This setting stops videos from autoplaying and lets the user decide if they want to view a video by clicking the play button. If this is the function of the plugin you are using, this function is already built into SeaMonkey by going to about:config HEY ! GREAT ! Thanks ! It was set to False ! I changed it to True and now I can play videos ! YouTube etc. It used to toggle on my menu bar, but it won't toggle there anymore. Why would it suddenly stop toggling ? Thanks again ! The first thing I Noticed was how fast and responsive it was compared to the build from September 7 that I had been using. Has anyone else tried any of the builds by W9G recently and noticed the speed and responsiveness improvements. What a difference. BTW I am using MacOS 10.15.6. Paul, when you installed the latest, did you flush the cache to ensure the SM had to re-acquire the web-site data i.e. to stop it just re-using the Cached data?? I don't use the cache and have it set to use 0 mb of disk space. Re: High Memory Usage 2.53.3 64 bit
Unfortunately this is my experience, too (on 64-bit linux) I typically keep 8-10 tabs open, which a t the end of a day typically means SM2.49.5 uses about 1-1.2 GB RAM. With SM2.53.3 this balloons to 2.5-3GB - much higher. There are also perceivable delays to switch between tabs. I am not complaining - i have been using the Mozilla suite since before its 1.0 release and am very thankful to the developers who have kept SeaMonkey alive. Perhaps if I (and other users) spent more time with betas, things would be better but the trend is worrying. Mr. Ed wrote on 2020-09-10 02:06: I noticed today while running FaceBook and trying to turn off Messenger Active Status the screen went slightly blurry, the "X" in upper right corner turned RED and the pointer became a spinning circle. Everything froze. I was able to open Task Manager via the "Control-Alt-Delete" and checked SeanMonkey. Memory was just running up the scale. Was a little over1GB when opened Task Manager and was increase like crazy. In about 30 seconds it was almost to 3GB. I then 'stopped' SeaMonkey. I tried this again - same results. Then I disabled Java Script. Tried again - same results. Anyone else experience this with FaceBook? Sending SM into a loop?
