With sm2 you can:

seamonkey.exe -createProfile new profile name
seamonkey.exe -P new profile name -migration

Using the -migration switch will import into the specified profile (or
the default one if you don't specify a profile) even if it already
exists, so be careful.

So far as I understand it, SeaMonkey 2.0 will import one profile on the
first run. Since the most profile intensive are Mail/News, TB or earlier
SM or Netscape/Mozilla profiles are primary. IE would be there for new
users from Windows.

I don't know why there is no FF import, but, since the backend is the
same, copying files manually should not be a problem.

No-one stepped up to write the migration/import code for FF import :-(

iirc bookmarks can be imported via the bookmark manager.

My question: is there a way to make it remember only *part* of a form

all (e.g. logging-in forms for forums but not for bank accounts)?

Passwords are not saved by the form manager - they are located in the
password manager. Hence can be switched off/denied separately.

iirc form fill will remember usernames if you don't save the password,
but I could be wrong.

I noticed that the address book is a bit limited compared to outlook.
I do not see categories or a way to group your addresses.

Is the development staff looking at adding this type of feature.

Yes, but it won't happen until after 2.x
