I am still not sure whether I actually migrated
my 1.1.18 profile to a 2.0 format or whether I just
copied over the files. The Migration Wizard seemed a
bit unsure as to what it was actually doing.
In any case, are there certain file names and/or formats
that are different from 1.1.18 to 2.0??

What exactly is the difference in migration and merely coping?

Well that's exactly my question. From the stuff I've read online,
the sm 2 profile and file structures are different from those
in sm 1.1.18, but that sm 2 can use the 1.1.18 profile and
files sorta/kinda/maybe. I
Just upgraded our second PC to sm 2, and this one
went different than the last. The Migration demon
started and I selected a profile from 1.1.18 to
migrate. But when it finished and sm2 started,
there was just the Default user only. So I started
the Profile Manager to create a profile, and

Oops, really old computer speak.
sorry.
Meant the Migration Wizard. better
Oh yeah, after running the migration tool and restarting
sm 2, most of my newsgroups were not there. The news server
names were there, but ONLY the mozilla.support.seamonkey
newsgroup was present.
Howcum is that??
Are they still in some 1.1.18 format news file somewhere
down in the profile

There's this web site I go to. I requires an ID and a
password. With sm 1.1.18 it ALWAYS requires an ID and
a password to get into the Main Page.
But with sm 2, somehow I always bypass the ID and
password, and go directly to the Main Page.
Why is that?
With sm 1.1.18, I had to logon with ID and password
each time I went to TheBox.bz to download files.
With sm 2 I never need to logon. Whenever I select the
url, I go right into the main page.
Where is the setting in sm 2 that would control this??

If you have both versions installed, you may want to check/verify which

Also if you have Quick Launch enabled for 1.1.18, it will load
itself on boot and become your default

I am having that problem now. No matter which icon
I click, even the seamonkey.exe executable in the
sm 2 folder, when sm starts and I click HelpAbout
it always comes up 1.1.18. Must I uninstall 1.1.18
to get 2.0 to run??
In sm1 it was in Preferencesadvanced
Can't find it in sm 2

I tried that several times. SM never asked about importing

So I re-installed SM2 without uninstalling 1.1.18.

I made a new folder d:/seamonkey2/users

looks like this: d:/seamonkey2/users/myname
Then in SM 2 I went into Manage Profiles, selected Create,
and chose that as the folder. Bingo. I have a

Can someone please point me to a simplified procedure
to convert from 1.8 to 2.0, including email folders,

I would like to try the procedure on a spare
