Hi,

I installed SeaMonkey 1.1.14 onto my new computer (running Windows
Vista
x64, BTW), copied my old profile and noticed that handling mail and
news
became incredibly sluggish.

When I click on a message it takes several seconds for it to be
displayed. At first I thought that this was a problem with my profile.
But the same thing happens when I start with a completely new profile.

After some searching I found the cause of the problem: As soon as I
disable Java via the preferences dialog, the sluggishness goes away.
Now
I wonder: Why does Java affect the handling of mail and news? And how
can I solve the problem without disabling Java for web pages?

Christian

PS: The most up-to-date version of the JRE (Version 6 Update 11) is
installed.
