Philip (the author) already has already made a patched version for
Firefox so I don't think it makes sense for me to send it there because
he already has it - I asked him to release it here:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48t=2916773p=14094203#p14094203

But Philip's version completely blocked Silverlight and the 360-spin
Quicktime images as well.

No problem for me with converted Flashblock 1.5.19a in SM 2.33.1.
Silverlight plays fine. I don't have Quicktime installed but I get the
message that additional plugins are necessary to display the page -
which means that Quicktime is not blocked. If it was blocked then there
would be just blank space and no info about missing plug-ins - that is
how earlier versions of Flashblock behave in newest SM versions.

Yeah, it's me who did the mod because Flashblock blocked too much in SM
2.31 and later:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=40t=2896337 - however,
for SM 2.26.1 the regular flashblock 1.3.21 or 1.3.20 will work. Here is
the download link for 1.3.21: http://downloads.mozdev.org/flashblock/

For SM 2.31 and up there is still no official fixed flashblock so the
above modded version is necessary. Alternatively, there is an updated
1.5.19a1 Firefox version, which apparently contains the necessary fixes
- it should work fine in SeaMonkey after running through the converter.

Flashblock 1.3.20 from

Somehow, I installed a version 1.3.21. I am not sure how I got it since

No, I really meant 3.nnn. The install.rdf file for Flashblock 1.3.21
anticipates a future SeaMonkey version number beginning with 3. Note
the em:maxVersion in the following fragment from that install.rdf

Yes.

I thought the maxVersion
was the Version at which it would stop working!!

It stops working when the version exceeds what is specified. In this
example, the extension would not be compatible with SM version 4.x.

4. Paste the download link for Flashblock (see step 2 for the
link url)
into the box below this phrase:

or paste direct link to xpi file or full URL of add-on page at
https://addons.mozilla.org/:;

5. Click Convert at the bottom of the page and you will be
prompted to
install Flashblock in SeaMonkey. You can safely ignore the warnings
about installing Flashblock. After SeaMonkey restarts you will once
again have Flashblock up and running in SeaMonkey.

I hope this helps. :)

Why bother? FlashBlock 1.3.20 for SeaMonkey was released at the same
time as Flashblock 1.5.17 was released for Firefox. They are both
available at http://flashblock.mozdev.org/.

On the other hand, FlashBlock 4.20.13 for Firefox is available at
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flash-block/. I
converted this for SeaMonkey compatibility at
http://addonconverter.fotokraina.com/, but I have not yet tried
installing and using it.

If you were paying attention FlashBlock 1.3.20 does not work with
SeaMonkey 2.31. So if you want to use Flashblock you have to convert
Flashblock 1.5 so that it will work with Seamonkey.

Plus the latest version of Flashblock IS 1.5.18!

Flashblock 1.5.18 is for Firefox. The latest version for SeaMonkey is
1.3.21, which should be good even for SeaMonkey versions starting with
3.nnn.

What SeaMonkey versions start with 3.nnn.?? Or do you mean SM 2.3nn,
David??

No, I really meant 3.nnn. The install.rdf file for Flashblock 1.3.21
anticipates a future SeaMonkey version number beginning with 3. Note
the em:maxVersion in the following fragment from that install.rdf file:
!-- Seamonkey TNG --
 em:targetApplication
 Description
em:id{92650c4d-4b8e-4d2a-b7eb-24ecf4f6b63a}/em:id
em:minVersion2.1/em:minVersion
em:maxVersion3.*/em:maxVersion
 /Description
 /em:targetApplication

Ahh!! So it should work for every edition up to and *excluding* ver
3.n!! That seems reasonable.

Err, I think that means up to and INCLUDING ver. 3.x.

I just noticed that Flash Block 4.20.13 for Firefox at

actually issued two months BEFORE FlashBlock 1.3.20 for SeaMonkey and
Flashblock 1.5.17 at http://flashblock.mozdev.org/. Mote that the
names are slightly different. Flash Block (addons.mozilla.org) and
Flashblock (mozdev.org) have different developers.

http://addonconverter.fotokraina.com/, but I have not yet tried
installing and using it.

Flashblock 1.5.18 is not Compatible with SeaMonkey 2.31 nor is the older

 steps:

 1. go to the Firefox Add-Ons page for Flashblock:

 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flashblock/

 2. Copy the link to download Flashblock from the button Download Now
or use the link I have provided below:

 3. Go to the Addonconverter page:

 4. Paste the download link for Flashblock (see step 2 for the link url)
into the box below this phrase:

or paste direct link to xpi file or full URL of add-on page at

 5. Click Convert at the bottom of the page and you will be prompted to
install Flashblock in SeaMonkey. You can safely ignore the warnings
about installing Flashblock. After SeaMonkey restarts you will once
again have Flashblock up and running in SeaMonkey.

 I hope this helps. :)

Why bother? FlashBlock 1.3.20 for SeaMonkey was released at the same
time as Flashblock 1.5.17 was released for Firefox. They are both
 available at http://flashblock.mozdev.org/.

On the other hand, FlashBlock 4.20.13 for Firefox is available at
 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flash-block/. I
converted this for SeaMonkey compatibility at
http://addonconverter.fotokraina.com/, but I have not yet tried

Flashblock 1.5.18 is for Firefox. The latest version for SeaMonkey is
1.3.21, which should be good even for SeaMonkey versions starting with
3.nnn.

Hello.

I just installed the latest stable FlashBlock extension (v1.3.14) from
http://flashblock.mozdev.org/installation2.html into my clean and new
SeaMonkey (SM) v2.0 (not upgrade) in my updated Windows XP Pro. SP3.

I noticed GUI options are missing in my SM's toolbar (no F icon) and in
SM's Preferences. FlashBlock does work when I visit Web sites with Flash
areas.

I tried a new profile and with only this extension, but have the same
problem. Is anyone else having the same problem or just me?

Thank you in advance. :)

Right click on the toolbar to which you wish to add the FlashBlock
preferences button. Choose Customize, and drag the Flashblock icon to
the desired location on the toolbar.

I'm using SM 1.1.14 and have been using Flashblock 1.3.8. I've been
having problems with it--not seeing the usual marker where flash
would go, so I decided to uninstall it and then reinstall it. I
installed the Mnenhy extension and then deleted Flashblock from the
Chrome Manager. When I reopened SM, Flashblock was gone, but each
time I try to install either
 1.3.8 or 1.3.9, I get a failed message that says that there's a
registry entry -239. I'm not adding a newer version because there
seem to be bugs when using with SM. Any advice?

For your installation problem try this set of instructions:

 1. Disable (or uninstall) Mnenhy.

 2. Shut down SeaMonkey.

 3. Locate your SeaMonkey profile directory. This should contain a
chrome subdirectory. This chrome directory should contain a
overlayinfo subdirectory. Delete the overlayinfo directory and
 everything inside it.

 4. Restart SeaMonkey and attempt to install Flashblock 1.3.8.

For your first problem. This might be cause by another extension
interfering with Flashblock. Try creating a new SeaMonkey profile and
installing only Flashblock. And you should try our latest version
 1.3.11.

 http://flashblock.mozdev.org/installation2.html

 Phil

It says here to use 1.3.9. Maybe it needs to be updated?
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/addon/433

Before I could install a different version of flashblock, I had to uninstall
it. Having an extension that can't be easily uninstalled is really not a
good idea! It took many tries to finally get rid of Mnenhy completely, which
for me caused more problems than it resolved, and then I still had to
uninstall flashblock. I didn't want to mess around with a new install of
Mnenhy, so I opted for the double dose of the extension manager and the
extension uninstaller API, which worked pretty well, although I still had to
remove references of flashblock in other files to get my personal toolbar to
look normal. Then In installed flashblock version 1.3.11, and everything
seems to be fine for now. Thanks for your help.
