Windows 2000 and higher,
Mac OS 10.4 and higher,
Linux/Unix with GTK 2.10 or higher,
other systems (e.g. OS/2) depending on the code of their Mozilla

2) What support are we all looking for?

A stable series such as 1.1.x is only about security and stability fixes
in any case, new features don't have any place there, that's what
development series are for.
For regressions and other non-enhancement bugs, where they can be fixes
depends very much on how intrusive, large and risky the patches are. If
all of that is low enough and the reward of fixing them is high enough
and the fix has baked long enough in development nightlies to show it
doesn't break anything, approval to take them in a stable series (such
as 1.1.x or later this year 2.0.x) will be granted by the SeaMonkey
Council, if requested by the patch author. Note that all of this needs
someone to even work on it and provide a patch in the first place.

A few may still use IBM's OS/2 Warp, or the OEM version eComStation.

You are correct, though since the discussion related to Windows, I am
sure that Grant intended Windows to be assumed.

In all of this discussion about dropped support for SM 1.x on various
Windows versions after the release of SM 2*, there has been no mention
of several issues:
1) Which systems will the new version(s) of SM be available and
supported on? I.e. not just Microsoft operating systems on Intel
cpus. For example: Apple MacIntoshes on their version of U*ix,
Mac G4s, other Unices, Sparc solaris, et.c.
2) What support are we all looking for?
2.1)Is it strictly fixing security holes/bugs?
2.2)Is it repair of other existing bugs, including regressions
introduced with the 1.x improvements? :-(
2.3)Is it introduction of new features ?

I would gladly settle for 2.1 2.2. I could care less about 2.3
If and when I run into missing bells and whistles, I'll find other
tools. But I like SM and would like, and was hoping for, a reliable
bug free program.

I have no personal knowledge of offices still using 95, though I am sure
they are out there.

I don't see why a computer with an old, outdated, and insecure operating
system needs security updates for its browser for much longer.

That said, the code will still be out there, we will just not be issuing
new compiled and tested releases for it, mainly because our team is too
small to build and test old code for a long time next to the new one.

Apart from that, the machines building 1.1.x are old computers that are
loud and consume a good amount of energy (esp. the Windows one) and I'll
celebrate the day when I can switch off those old things sitting in my
basement.

I've got to ask. So if it was September you'd be more inclined to keep the
updates running till next June? GDRFC

Not really, it's of an energy consumption and noise problem than a heat
problem.

The older version generally gets security updates for about 6 months
after a new release. However, with the limited number of volunteer
developers working on the SeaMonkey project, it is not realistic to
expect anything past that.

I am sure Robert will chime in with more official information.
