It was back up again last time I checked.

   any suggestions?

 I offer my humble gateway:

Not surprisingly my gateway got some use after my post. I notice there are
some regular visitors - probably testing how far their inserts propagate. Good
idea! So I thought I should offer this warning:

I'm taking my public gateway down for the next 3 days to avoid a bandwidth
surcharge (the rate limiting bug in 5081 didn't help). Someday I'll put some
traffic shaper on my router to avoid this.

I've looked over all the links that i've been able to find for such
gateways and have not yet found a single one on the stable network that
 works.

http://freenetgw.bishopston.net/ requires a login but lists other gateways...

 fly.cnuce.cnr.it
 leafgroup.net
 firenze.linux.it
 tattooine.homelinux.net
 https://freenet.mixmaster.it:4433/servlet/nodeinfo/

 ..these are all not responding

On another note: I've tried running the unstable version in a separate
install and FIW, Frost, and FQUID don't seem to work with it.

 any suggestions?

Hi,

i'm not running a public gateway, though i can arrange to let you access
it if your ip is _fix_.
The node is a poor p200, 1GB storesize on a 512Kb ADSL and runs about
12hours a day (shutdown at night, otherwise i couldn't sleep: too
noisy).

Let me know,
Francis.
