Frost is easily spammable (and is being spammed a lot), so few of the
Freenet developers use it and most cannot help a lot with it nowadays
(there are plans to change this, but it’s unclear when they will bear
fruits). If what you want are discussions, have a look at FMS (search
for it on nerdageddon).

Best wishes,

The router shouldn't matter, but i don't really know what this can be all
about.
Have you installed the node on the same computer where you are running frost?

- Volodya

P.S. You can also try FMS, although i think it's not as good as Frost, but it
is
more resistant to DoS attacks, and most boards on Frost are currently under
attack. You can get FMS at

Hmmm. Are there any errors in your Freenet nodes wrapper.log?

Also make sure your FCP port is enabled. In the Darknet page at the
bottom (May need to have advanced mode turned on, not sure) you should
see something like:

FCP: 9481/tcp (for Freenet clients such as Frost and Thaw)
You should make sure this doesn't say disabled

How about in Frosts log? Anything labeled SEVERE that looks like a
crash or gives any clue?

see something like:

FCP: 9481/tcp (for Freenet clients such as Frost and Thaw)
You should make sure this doesn't say disabled

How about in Frosts log? Anything labeled SEVERE that looks like a
crash or gives any clue?

[freenet-support] Frost crash

2002-12-18 Thread Skip Morrow
I have been using frost (021112) on W2K for a few days now without
any problems. Yesterday it crashed on me, and now I can't start it
at all. I get a string of java errors and then it freezes and leaves
an icon in the system tray. Here's what I get at startup:

C:\frostjava -cp .;frost.jar frost

whole bunch more of these)

The system tray is left with an icon that has a tool tip that says
System Tray Demo in Java and there is one extra process called
SystemTray.exe that I have to kill manually from the windows task
manager.

I tried re-installing frost, but that didn't help.

Any suggestions?

[freenet-support] Frost, FMB, SnarfZilla and NIM

2002-11-07 Thread rockymountainhigh
I am new to Freenet. I have been able to set
up a freenet node and access The Freedom Engine
as well as other sites. However, I can not
get Frost, FMB or SnarfZilla to show any files
or messages. Is there a tutorial showing how
to get these older clients to run with the newer
version of Freenet? I notice Frost asks for
the path to finsert etc, however the newer verison
of Freenet seems to use fserve.

Thank you,
Bud
