(Sorry for the late answer, support is dealt with by volunteers, and nobody
seemed to notice your mail back then.)

You say you did not use the regular uninstaller.
What do you mean by "I uninstalled freenet" then?

Which operating system are you using?

What do you mean by "my hard drive is still being accessed"?

Thanks Dennis.
I did write it as you said and still get the message:
C:\Program\Files\Freenet\ is not recognized as an internal or

So, I went in to delete the directories and I get this message:

Cannot delete wrapper-windows-86-32.exe:Access is denied.,

Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file
is not currently in use.

I am not certain how to check for this kind of thing. I usually use

It would be pretty trivial to write a small script (that can be run
after a download completes, or whenever) that simply sends the filename
to your running fproxy and thus begins inserting it. A less obvious
question is how you would notify others of it? Freetalk? FMS? Frost?
Thaw? Another special method like FreemuleET?

[freenet-support] Uninstall Freenet on Mac

Erin Dalzell wrote:

> How do I completely uninstall Freenet on Mac OS X 10.5.5?

Provided that you installed Freenet in the default directory, open a terminal
(should be in /Apps/terminal.app IIRC)

In the terminal, type:
java -jar /Users//Freenet/Uninstaller/Uninstaler.jar
where is your login name, and hit enter.

GUI way:
- Browse to your Freenet directory (default /Users//Freenet)
- In the freenet directory, you should find a folder called 'Uninstaller', and
inside that folder there is a file called Uninstaller.jar, which is a Java
executable: run it to completely uninstall Freenet. It also gives you an option
to delete the Freenet direcotry itself.

Now, I don't remember if MacOSX lets you run .jar file double clicking on them,
or maybe it gives you a 'run' option in the contest menu; anyway the point is
that you have to run the Uninstaller.jar. If your OS goves you an 'extract'
option, ignore it. You have to run the .jar as it is, not extract it.

Alternatively, if you for any reason can't run the Uninstaller.jar, you may
simply delete the Freenet directory with all its content. All the Freenet stuff
always stays in the Freenet directory, so deleting that directory will
effectively uninstall everything.

Only if you have set Freenet to autostart when you start the computer, manually
deleting the Freenet directory would leave the Freenet autostart command in
place (there is surely an easy way to get rid of it but you'll have to wait for
someone who actually know MacOSX to tell you how to do that).
Anyways, a command pointing to a non-existent file does no harm at all, the
system would simply fail to locate the target and ignore the command.

[freenet-support] uninstall problem in Vista

Vista is presently unsupported by Freenet. However, it is possible that
somebody will come up with something.

[freenet-support] Uninstall not working

2006-12-04 Thread Benjamin Lobato

I've downloaded the latest Freenet software for Windows XP available on the
website, and I've used the updater. When I try to use the uninstaller,
nothing happens. I tried going though Add/Remove Programs and that hasn't
worked either. I was not aware that Freenet is in such an early stage of
development and should probably not be used by the general public. Any help
at all would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks!

[freenet-support] Uninstall not working

2006-11-30 Thread Benjamin Lobato
I've downloaded the latest Freenet software for Windows XP available on the
website, and I've used the updater. When I try to use the uninstaller,
nothing happens. I tried going though Add/Remove Programs and that hasn't
worked either. I was not aware that Freenet is in such an early stage of
development and should probably not be used by the general public. Any help
at all would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is a copy of my wrapper.log:

I have recently installed FreeNet (beta 0.7 - I think). I want to uninstall
it, but and the documentation says to go to: Start > Programs > Freenet >
Uninstall. I do not have a "Freenet" folder on my start menu. Any
suggestions?

This is on Win XP.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hi,
This is a known issue : we don't provide any uninstallation script
yet.

Here is a simple one :

"
net stop freenet
net stop freenet-darknet
net stop freenet-testnet
bin\wrapper.exe -r ../wrapper.conf
"

copy thoses lines into a new textfile in you freenet's directory,
rename it to uninstall.cmd and start it.
Then you just have to delete freenet's directory.

I can't remember what it's called exactly but there's some program on
windows for managing services, open that and find freenet in the list,
stop it, set it to need to start manually to run and then delete the
folder you installed freenet in. You can not get the service to not be
listed in the service program without editing the registry but I don't
what to change in there maybe someone else on here know?
