Re: [freenet-support] Please somebody help. Frost won't start
richard hepplewhite wrote: Hi! Could anybody explain in simple words which steps to take to start up Frost in ubuntu? So far I didn't succeed. Thanks! Richard The problem may be that Ubuntu uses GNU java, not Sun Java. You will need to do the following: in the terminal window: sudo apt-get sun-java6-jre (you'll need to agree to some licencing things, but it will work) Now another problem will be that your computer will *still* use the gnu java after that, so you'll need to change the alternatives. in the terminal window: sudo update-alternatives --config java You will be asked to chose which one to use, so select the thing which has 'sun' in the path. This should work, if it still doesn't ask away, i'll try to help. -- http://freedom.libsyn.com/ Voice of Freedom, Radical Podcast http://eng.anarchopedia.org/ Anarchopedia, A Free Knowledge Portal None of us are free until all of us are free.~ Mihail Bakunin ___ Support mailing list Support@freenetproject.org http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.freenet.support Unsubscribe at http://emu.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support Or mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi! Could anybody explain in simple words which steps to take to start up Frost in ubuntu? So far I didn't succeed. Thanks! Frost won't start To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], support@freenetproject.org Date: Tuesday, June 17, 2008, 9:58 PM Dear mailing list, I have sent an email to the frost and freenet mailing lists multiple times now. I don't know where else to ask. For weeks I have been having the problem now that Frost won't start. I am using linux and gnome. When I start Frost I am asked which version of of freenet I am using and I choose darknet 0.7. After clicking OK I only get as far as initializing mainframe. I waited for like 20 minutes. I ran the debug version which didn't provide any helpful hints in the log file. Actually no (relevant) entries. I am behind a router. Freenet is working OK, I can retrieve pages, so it must be a frost problem. Is my configuration file screwed up? I redownloaded the frost.zip and extracted it again and it still won't work. I want to participate in free speech but I don't know where to get help but on this mailing list. Who could kindly help me, please? ___ Support mailing list Support@freenetproject.org http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.freenet.support Unsubscribe at http://emu.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support Or mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ Support mailing list Support@freenetproject.org http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.freenet.support Unsubscribe at http://emu.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support Or mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [freenet-support] Please somebody help. Frost won't start
Sometimes Frost has taken a while to start up for me too, but I don't know why. This mainly happens if I haven't used it for a few months. One thing to check is if there is a dialog box warning you about old versions of keys (I wondered why Frost wasn't starting, and this was buried behind loads of other windows!), but if this is a new install, then this shouldn't be the problem. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of anonymouser anonymouser Sent: 17 June 2008 20:59 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; support@freenetproject.org Subject: [freenet-support] Please somebody help.
