Probably it comes from one of the super-duker security on windows, an
anti-V or like. so you may just for the time of the installation get
those off, of course if you had downloaded the freenet install from
source (if, for that time you fear any external Virus attack _that
exist_ on those systems) you can just unconnect also from the web just
for the time of the install… it probably will work then. when it would
be installed, nothing will react anymore.
It acts the same with "keygens.exe" that will always start a very strong
alarm (and the keygens files are deleted instantly!), and there also,
one has to stop any antiVirus for a while. I always wondered if MS
wouldn't always keep those weekness to virusses as an agreement with
anti-V programs and making then more money out of it.;-) (always look
to whom the crime brings benefits!)

When you install Freenet, it puts it into a folder in Program Files. There is a
file called wrapper.log inside that folder. Please send us/me that file.

However there is a more immediate suggestion: Recently there was a small change
to the installer that should fix this problem for at least some users. I
suggest you uninstall Freenet, then get the latest windows installer from the
website and try again. Please let us know how it goes!

As far as I know, there is no known solution to this problem. I
believe Zero3 is working on it, but I don't know precisely how much
progress he's been able to make. I think at present he's in need of
testers on versions of Windows he doesn't have. See
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/freenet/index.php?title=Jobs
for details; contact him if you're willing to help test.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I see that others are having the same problem as me. From what I can tell no one
has gotten an answer. Maybe this is a problem that you are addressing currently
and have not been able to resolve.Maybe you feel it is to trivial an issue to
sddress. Either way a response to this issue would be appreciated.

I have no other file just an installer. There is nothing I can do with
this file other than try to open it,which of course I can't.

Debug. For starters, check your wrapper.log file for any juicy
information that might help -- usually found near the end.

Sure. On my system, with java installed in /opt/j2sdk1.4.2, execute the
following before trying start-freenet.sh (or put in your bashrc):
export JAVA_HOME=/opt/j2sdk1.4.2 (or wherever it is installed)
export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$JAVA_HOME/jre/bin/:$PATH
