I gather that Ambdec version 3 files (v. 0.5.1) use ACN for the
coefficient ordering, which would make it W, Y, X.
For example the LF coefficients you give for the CE speaker (dir=[1,0,0])

I will need some time to digest all this information.

Is BLaH4 available anywhere apart from the AES site? I am not a member,
only curious.

Now, if someone has thoughts on shelf filters for higher orders...there is some stuff in Daniel's

The actual shelf gains (the difference between LF and HF gain for any
component) don't tell the real story. Changing the LF or HF gain for all
components by the same amount doesn't modify the decoding, it just results in
some EQ.
Du...uh! I stand corrected. Shelf filters change the ratio
The best references for stuff on the shelf filters is probably the BLaH Trilogy at

Hi,
I am once again doing some experiments decoding UHJ source material to
ITU standard domestic surround sound speaker layouts and re-encoding the
results into AC3. I keep seeing in the Ambisonic literature on the web
references to the use of shelf filters in the decoding process and the

You could also use jconvolver / fconvolver. An UHJ decoder preset
