I am tired of the conversion or dismissal or denial rhetoric. I all smacks of
the same problem.

My guess is that poverty forces such efficiency. Poor in the sense of modest,
not requiring or wasting much. We will have to shake the affluenza bug first.
In that sense, green development is an oxymoron. And, as you suggest,
surviving may be the driver.
