[sustainable_tompkins-l] 10/16: Brewing Science Technology short course in Geneva NY
The Brewing Science Technology one day extension program that was previously offered (and very favorably rated) will again be presented in Geneva, NY, this time on Friday, October 16, 2015. The largest venue at the Geneva Experiment Station is the Jordan Hall Auditorium. When this is set up classroom style it can accommodate up to 80 people. In the previous six offerings we sold out four times and were close to selling out (70) the other two. Early registration is highly recommended. About the program: This will be entirely presented by Prof. Karl Siebert, who spent over 18 years in the brewing industry and who has received multiple awards from brewing organizations. This short course will cover barley, malt, hops, brewing water, adjuncts, brewhouse operations, brewing yeast and brewery fermentations, maturation, finishing and beer styles. Your Help Needed to update the Cayuga Lake Watershed Plan Thursday August 13th, 5-7 pm Court Room, Ulysses Town Hall 10 Elm St., Trumansburg NY REFRESHMENTS SERVED This public meeting seeks input from year-round and summer residents for an update of the Cayuga Lake Watershed Plan, being carried out 2015-6. Members of the public will learn about the original plan and be asked to provide unique personal knowledge and input for the updated plan. Light refreshments served. An updated plan will help the watershed's municipalities improve water quality. A new plan will also aid our towns, villages, and cities in applying for funding to repair and upgrade water projects in towns and villages around the lake. The public's input provides guidance to our communities in protecting our lake and creeks over the next 10-20 years.
