x-charset ISO-8859-1It is correct that a lot of the stuff they use here is
animal fat or 'half
liquid' vegetable oil. The half liquid, hardened, oil I use for making
biodiesel. The liquid oil I use in a separate tank (with a pre-hearting
system) to drive on pure oil.

Hi Franklin, Todd and all
Franklin, something else you might think about is using water
hyacinths, and or duckweed. From a previous message:
As far as the wash-water's concerned, water hyacinths quite happily
eat the first-wash water, methanol and all, clean it up nicely.

Hello all,
I am new to biodiesel and this discussion group. I am in the
process of helping a friend in South America make biodiesel from
waste and palm oils as a small producer.
I have downloaded quite a bit of information on how to make
biodiesel. What I did not find, except for general
Rainwater has a pH of about 5.6, (due to dissolved carbon dioxide and
the subsequent carbonate equilibrium) so depending on how accurate your
measurement is, you are probably fine.

What did you measure the pH of, the biodiesel or the final

Which is okay if you did, though maybe you used

Hi Hakan
Thanks Keith,
It was a very interesting reading and I did not know the history before.
Being Swedish, the slavery is not such as important part of our legacy and
therefore not connected to historical events. I really enjoyed the reading.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, so did I, though I do

I'm sorry, I wanted to respond to this before but didn't manage it.
Very interesting! It's great work that you're doing - great that
you're doing it, and great results so far.
Do you have any later news on this Franklin? Also how are you getting

x-charset ISO-8859-1Rick,
Every bit as impossible to get a pH reading from biodiesel as it is from
vegetable oils, as both are not ionic solutions.
What you're getting is a relative reading. Works fine for calculating
catalyst amounts but isn't worth anything from an accuracy perspective of
pH.

Diesels are often used with producer gas as the fuel (downdraft gasifiers)

Methane has a pretty high energy value. It might be that the
