So its the range the the hydrometer is set to test rather
that it needing to be a specific hydrometer. I get it.

I've made a couple of batches of biodiesel and want to test
its specific gravity. I've found a hydrometer that test a
battery to see if it is holding a charge at TSC here in
Bloomington, IL.
Can I use this hydrometer to test the biodiesel or do I need
one specificially for biodiesel?

I'm afraid you gonna need an other one. :-//
Battery acid is a mix of water and Sulferic Acid;
Water has a specific gravity of 1, 00 kg/L ( at 4°C)
Pure Sulferic Acid is about 1.9 kg/L
So, your battery hydrometer shall have readings somewere between 1.0 and 2
kg/L
and your Biofuel will

hydrometers and such...the are in england..you could get one by mail
