Here is a question that I have not seen posted. Can the methoxide,
once mixed, be stored for any length of time? As in can I make up
several batches and have it sitting waiting to be used or is it
necessary to use as you go?
Thanks

G'day;
Some carboys have a cut out plug that once removed is already
threaded to 3/4, but not mine :) I have a regular hard screw on cap
and am in the process of building Girl Mark's $150.00 Fumeless

So far I have not been able to successfully even get a test batch
going. Me thinks that the prime culprit is the sodium hydroxide
quality.
I have been, up to now, unable to get proper sodium hydroxide so I
have used Drano (which gave the expected non-result due to the
aluminium
Is the one used in the 5 gal procesor at Journey to Forever a
straight water heater type ?
How hot can it get (in C degrees)?
Is it a screw in type ?
Is it 110V ?

If I were to change my thinking about a variable speed drill type

do the job ?

Well, Keith, I have to say that I am now happier than ever to have
found biofuels and this forum and Journey to Forever.
The whole ^$^#* lot of the chem community is responsible for so much

Well, I found a second hand blender with a glass bowl, but the only
thing I could locate in the way of sodium hydroxide was drano, and
as aticipated it don't work :-( Wasted (!) a good liter of canola
(which is only good for this type of application anyway), so now it
is back to the drawing
Since my 5 liter methoxide mixer will no longer do for a 5 gal
processor I was in need of a larger one, so while at the grocery
store I noticed a lady with a spring water container and asked if I
could see under it (so I could check the HDPE code) and there it
was, HDPE 2. Ha! So I now have a
Is this the kind of immersion heater I should be looking at ?

Attaching other plumbing to the carboy, huh? Now THAT is an
intelligent idea ! Having once been into plumbing you would think I
could have come up with that one,but alas, old age
Found a suitable jug though, a 5 liter clear HD...2 rated (that's
what is says on the bottom) in the form of a
Excuse my ignorance but how would one go about making an air stone
from a grinding wheel ? The air can be had via an aquarium pump and
the T/hose idea sounded good, but if a grindstone/airstone works
better then that is what I want.

Well, I tried to find one of those metal cans the petro companies
use, but here they don't use metal cans anymore, only the heavy
plastic variety, but not to worry, where ther is a will there is
always a way, and when I woke up I called the brother in law who has

Ok, it i9s recommended to set the timimg back 2-3 points if running
B100. What about if at first you plan on mixing bio and petro say
70/30 (70bio) ? Does the timing still have to be set back?

I already have a mental picture (good place to start) and I am

Having installed slide dimmers on all my lights in the house I got

would better be able to control the vortex ect... by controlling

I haven't a pump and probably wouldn't know what to do with one if I
did, so I am going with a drill which I can get. Question is what
kind of apparatus do I use as a mixing blade(s)in a 20 liter

Once I get this one answered I should have a pretty good idea of

Did I read it correctly? Is Journey to Forever planning on offering
ready-built processors sometime this summer ?? That sounds mucho
interesting. Any additional information available yet ?
