As I understand it, gasoline and diesel and heating oil are all produced from 
refining oil, usually by fractional distillation.  Diesel fuel and heating oil 
are 
largely interchangeable in terms of production from raw stock, and occasionally 
in 
use.  If the demand for heating oil production is easing in anticipation of 
spring 
arriving, this is probably allowing for increased production of diesel fuel.
