Re: [biofuel] gas filter (urgent question... I«ve got little time)
Christian, Personally, I'd just use the existing filter system. I am presuming that you're filtering the fuel through at minimum a coffee filter before placing it in the tank or resevoir. If he's never used BD before, it's solvent abilities may very well clean the gook out of his tank and lines. He does not want to clog his diesel filter with that, so a clear inline cheapo filter can be the visual sacrificial lamb. Right. Anyhow, I think I«ll be bypassing the tank. I.e., directly plugging the hose that goes to the filter and pump into a HDPE container. Gasoline inline filter is excellent for this purpose (prefilter). Our cones would filter it better than coffee filters. Re: [biofuel] gas filter (urgent question... I«ve got little time)
Christian, A third filtration using the same filter type (micron size) wouldn't accomplish much. If the receiving container was clean, two filtration passes prior to hitting the system filter should be ample. Dino-diesel users go to a lot less pains and suffer no seriously ill consequences. Matter of fact, let 5 gallons of freshly pumped dino-diesel settle for a couple of weeks and look at the gunk on the bottom of the carboy.
