It works well for that. :-) We use it all the time for all sorts of 
things, generally useful stuff: excellent safe household lubricant, 
oil for sharpening stones (if you don't like water), penetrating oil 
for anything that's stuck, spray a little into keyholes now and then 
during the rusty season. There are several plastic "oilcans" of it 
about, those small plastic bottles with a long then neck and a little 
hole in the end, and a few one-litre PET bottles too fitted with a 
spray.

Best to wash it first though, get the excess methanol and any lye out.
