You're right, looking at it in Google Chrome, it shows this rather large solid 
circle in the center.  But for me, Opera looks good (10.62 on Linux).

By the way, Batik doesn't render the scripted gradients at all. The DOM is 
changed, but the graphics aren't updated accordingly.

I'm sorry.  I just realised I messed up the indentation (the old tabs vs. 
spaces problem).
