Opening the same SVG within the same session yields the same performance, i.e., I don't think it is libraries loading. The files do not appear to be using filters. At this point, my knowledge level may becoming glaringly obvious. I have been asked to speed up an application that was

Hi MJ, It is a bit difficult to give suggestions in such a general situation. As others have mentioned a 500K SVG is a fairly large file (you can't compare bitmap file sizes with vector graphic file sizes). What are the predominant elements in the SVG file? Text? image? path? other
