I used to use -j1000 to stress test context switching with a LINT
build - that was when we ran into FD_SETSIZE vs make. Kernel builds
have always been highly tolerant of very large -j values because
idiots like me used to use it to try and break things.

Our libc iconv (unlike gnu iconv and the citrus code in NetBSD) has a
bypass mode when src == dst. Unfortunately, there are tools in ports
that pass byte streams
these performance investigations and fixes that need
to happen for us; having the VM change and break _right now_ is going
to actually cause us pain.
The current state of HEAD also kinda rules out refreshing freebsd.org
machines this week too.
