By all means, let him know about the list! This is not a private list and was never intended to be one -- if anyone has any passing interest in software collecting as a hobby, I'd love it if they joined this list.

Not only does it scare the dickens out of him :) but at the bottom it gives instructions on joining the list. Also, if he wants to know what he's getting into, he can check the archives (URL is at the bottom of every message).
