It might've started with the 2600. Activision started because developers at
Atari wanted more control and recognition for their work. Atari's games
didn't list developer/designer names anywhere on the physical product.
Before Activision, all 2600 games were released by Atari.

audience showed, it would be easier to draw bigger numbers. If we asked the
VCF people about their approximate attendence it would probably reflect how
many would come to an expo limited to old games.

Finally, I think creating a true master list (of viable commercial games)

a great idea. I'm guessing we could get a good 80% of the way there (or
more) just by combining the databases of the people on our e-mail list.

Software obtains through company buyouts. They tend to buy several
truckloads of software and computer parts at once. I'm getting the
impression there still are many warehouses in the US stuffed with vintage
software.
My main concern was to make sure Mr. Leonard knew there were some
potential downsides to Paypal et al.. When you are in a situation where
you have serious money problems, which I understand all too well,
potentially having money you counted on suddenly get taken away from you
