Bizarre games?  There have been many, especially in the 1980s when there
was
less pressure to conform to known "profitable" genres.  I can think of a
few
that were and/or are considered "bizarre", odd, and/or definitely not
mainstream at some point:

Airball
Captain Blood
Purple Saturn Day
Racter
Hacker
Timothy Leary's Mind Mirror
Alter Ego
Portal
Moebius
Wizball
Alley Cat
Tass Times in Tonetown
El-Fish (and Fish! for that matter)
All of the Infocomics

(BTW, most if not all of those games are at MobyGames if you want
descriptions,
screenshots, etc.)  That was just off of the top of my head; I'd be
curious to
hear everyone's favorite candidates for "most odd/unconventional games".
