Re: [swinog] JOB: Senior Network Engineer, Schlieren/ZH
No one had the guts to write some numbers until now? Let's heat up that discussion a little with meat on the bone... It depends on the location, age and company size. In Zuerich, mid-sized company I'd say: Age 25+ minimum 95'000 per year Age 30+ minimum 105'000 per year etc. I guess it's impossible to have all those skills when younger than 25 (please correct if I'm wrong) As we all know, the salaries in the rest of Switzerland are a little lower because the living cost is also lower, so I'd say deduct some % for a different region in CH. Also for smaller companies, the salaries might be lower, but the feel-good factor is higher, which compensates quite a lot. Since we all know, that the current job situation for IT techies is very good, I'd say, that those figures are the absolute minimum and you should try to get more - because there will be worse years and you'll be stuck on the salary you negotiated in the good years... The larger the company, the more you should ask, because they're the ones that will fire you anyway, when times get worse... So much rants for now :-) Cheers, Viktor Pascal Gloor wrote: I'm just wondering what the community thinks, how much should one earn in such a position with all those skills and requirements? I can't comment on this particular position, as I'm not the one who decides :) But in general, you're right. This position is supposed to be for an experienced person, supposedly of age 30-35, and the figures you've mentioned are quite right. --- Viktor Steinmann [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: No one had the guts to write some numbers until now? I have experiences in everything but the below. I am at the CCIE level eventhough I don't have the cert. I work on Juniper and Alcatel routers. However, I can speak a little Hawaiian, would that help? Just kidding. :-) I must live near the ocean as I am addicted to surfing big waves... - DOCSIS network technologies - VoIP and IP Telephony - Cisco certifications of Professional or Expert level are welcome. - Fluent German and English languages are the required. - Ability to communicate in French is very much welcome. - A valid driver license is also essential. After converting the salary range (from another email) from Swiss Francs to American Dollars, I see you're able to pay what's average here. However, I don't know how to relate the spending power of that level of salary to what it can do here, so it might be more or less value to the person. Do you guys have a hard time finding folks at this level there? scott ___ swinog mailing list swinog@lists.swinog.ch http://lists.swinog.ch/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/swinog

Pascal, that is what most people call Over qualified :) Nevertheless, how much you get paid doesn't really matter, it's about how much fun you have. The funding helps a lot in the equation, but if you get paid loads and you are not having any fun then what's the use of having loads of fun and having to spend all that money to actually have fun?
