It is with great sadness that I read this. Michael will be missed, both as a
friend and a part of the fest community.

May he find peace.

This is so sad. Only two weeks ago I exchanged
emails with Michael and offered to drive him to
the SWLfest and back home every day (if he wasn't
staying at the hotel) because I knew he was
unwell. He said he certainly hoped to go, but
that his health was varying wildly. Michael
really loved the SWLfest and the people there. We'll miss him.

[Swlfest] DoubleTree Frequencies: Vol 154, Issue 9

2019-02-17 Thread jarnett

Doubletree Freqs as listed on FCC.Gov as WPSH816 are:

1. 451.625 Mhz Simplex
2. 462.425 Mhz Simplex
3. 463.900 Mhz Simplex
3. 452.8875 Mhz Repeater out, Appears to be licensed Simplex
4. 457.8875 Mhz Repeater In, Appears to be licensed as Simplex

Also note, Their licensed expired May 2011 but in all probability are still
being used unless they went to off-the-shelf FRS or GMRS. There appears to not
be an FRN associated with the license. I'm going to bring my Scout near-field
frequency counter.

Re: [Swlfest] Ham Frequency For Fest Comms

2019-02-17 Thread Ed Cummings
Yes, definitely not 2M FM. But those hotel
business frequencies might be interesting and
potentially useful to monitor. I'd be surprised
if no SWLfester hasn't mapped them out.

If anyone has, please post them here. Thanks!

[Swlfest] Ham Frequency For Fest Comms

2019-02-17 Thread Dave Marthouse
It worked out well last year so I am proposing the same for this
year's Fest.

Those of us who attend who are radio amateurs should use the simplex
frequency of 146.535MHZ for communications in and around the Fest.

The two meter band is the most popular VHF band and equipment for the
band is plentiful and cheap.  You can get a Baofeng hand-held from
Amazon for around $30.

See you at the Fest in two weeks.

73 and good dx.
