Further to the erratic slow Starchat IRC servers, tonight it only took 15 minutes to connect. Apparently patience is a virtue.
On Stsrchat, about two dozen persons were connected to #swl and about 8-10 were connected to #mwdx. For those wondering about WUN, the utilty chatroom #wunclub also still exists. Only about 6 persons were connected to Freenode #swbc. The #mwdx room apparently doesn't exist here. Another shortwave room is on irc.digitaladdiction.info in #swling. So, the old Internet Relsy Chat is alive and well. For Windows, the Icechat9 software is probably the best software IMHO. It allows multiple IRC server connections in one instance of the app. To connect to the three different servers above, mIRC requires running 3 instances of the software. I use an Android tablet 99% of the time and stick wuth the classic YAIIC app. It too allows multiple server connections (somes I connect to 4 servers and 2-4 roons per server).
