+1

I added 'Text Translator' an add-on module for Emacs that translates the
string I'm working on by using several on-line translation services,
giving me hints.

.po files are text files in the end, so if you have some $EDITOR
you like, if it has at least some extensibility it has probably
support for ediitng po file. Emacs has
https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/Gettext two modes, the latter
has some nice functions to support jumping around the file and
simplifies copying texts between different nodes. vim has
https://github.com/vim-scripts/po.vim--Jelenak, which has nide
key shortcuts as well. I am certain that SubEdit, VSCode, and
Atom will have some support for po files as well.

What I wanted to say that poedit.net is not that super deal as
it tries to look like. Of course, if anybody likes it, go for
it!

Best,

Matěj

I also forgot to mention that there seems to be also a Linux edition of Poedit
that should be included in the major distributions.

Since I started the thread, I've bought the Pro version.
This for possible use next year if I decide to get involved in helping with
localizations.

Best regards,

David

[sword-devel] Poedit - for editing PO files for localizing [front-end] apps

2017-12-19 Thread David Haslam
Last month I came across and installed the free version of Poedit from
https://poedit.net/

This may be useful for anyone wishing to create or edit the PO files used in
some front-ends for UI localization.

If anyone already uses Poedit, please share your experiences and observations.
I've not yet had a go.

There's always a need for front-end apps to be made more accessible to
non-English readers.

See https://crosswire.org/wiki/Choosing_a_SWORD_program#Localization

And if anything in that table needs to be updated, please find time to do so.
Thanks.

Best regards,

David
