Evening all,

So here's how I would solve this.

First, I would svn repo the files EXCLUDING the actual update files to a repo. Perhaps adding an svnignore attribute to the other files. Then commit.

Not sure what you mean here. Do you mean create a new top-level directory similar to the 'dns' and 'sysadmins' directory?

I understand the concept of the rest of the steps below but how does this link what is in SVN to what is actually hosted at http://spamassassin.apache.org/updates/MIRRORED.BY? Maybe I am missing something...

spamassassin.apache.org resolves to 2 IPs:
140.211.11.105
88.198.26.2

Neither of those 2 IPs is hitting the rsyncd.log on sa-vm1.apache.org so I am not seeing how to update the source of the MIRRORED.BY.

Here are all of the IPs that are rsyncing the 'updates' area and I am not seeing anything like the 2 IPs above:

root@sa-vm1:/var/log# grep "rsync on updates" rsyncd.log | awk '{print $8 $9}' | sort -u
aurora.servers.rene-schwarz.com(176.28.55.20)
ec2-52-73-17-145.compute-1.amazonaws.com(52.73.17.145)
ec2-54-194-164-133.eu-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com(54.194.164.133)
sa-update.pccc.com(69.171.29.39)
sa-update.secnap.net(204.89.241.6)
smtp1i.ena.net(96.5.1.5)
smtp1n.ena.net(96.4.1.5)
toroon12-1177740699.sdsl.bell.ca(70.50.229.155)
UNKNOWN(82.98.128.121)
UNKNOWN(96.4.1.6)
zone-ns6.dnswl.org(78.47.167.123)

Most of those above are official mirrors. The 3 in 96.4.0.0/15 are my ENA servers.

Am I overthinking this? I am not seeing the connection to what is on sa-vm1.apache.org::updates and spamassassin.apache.org/updates.

Dave

Then I would just edit MIRRORED.BY to include your new mirror.

I would add it with a very low weight and bump it up after a few days.

svn commit the change and that's it. I don't think there is anything more formal than that.

KAM

I don't think those servers are involved.

I will brain dump on this tomorrow. I clearly have to give better guidance. Sorry about that!

Not sure how to do this. I am not able to SFTP into
minotaur.apache.org
and when I SFTP into people.apache.org I am limited to my home
directory.

I searched the wiki and didn't find any details so I guess when I
figure
this out it needs to go on our new wiki page.

You should be able to edit mirrored by and good to go. Might want to
start out with a low weight.
We should also try and svn that info without the actual updates.

Have setup sa-update.ena.com and they are ready to be checked and

to the MIRRORED.BY file.
