It just seems to me the natural mascot could have been Mercury. A
mascot that denotes speed seems to be what the sport is about. I'm sure
kids would have loved a muscular fella with wings on his head, the

you want to race hard for 26 miles, or any distance for that matter you
better try to replicate as much of it in practice as you can.

Very nice idea, just what the ER doctor with TF on the operating table
needed. Maybe something that can make this easier to accomplish in the
short term is each discipline organizing their own qualifying meets. For
instance have the LDR take the 800, 1500, steeple, 5k and 10k and try
for a lot of runners. This recent idea of 'cooperating' in
a race to achieve a fast time is killing the sport. As you say, the
fans certainlynotice what's missing.
