Tom + Barbara,

THE FACTS: The 1993 Nike-sponsored-white-trash-burnt-chicken attempted BBQ
was not by any stretch of the imagination a success. "Extensive food court"
is a wild exaggeration. Those are just the facts. Deal with it. Heck in most
southern states ATTEMPTED BARBECUE is a Class C felony, punishable by fine,
imprisonment, or both. In Oregon, ATTEMPTED BARBECUE isn't even a citable
offence.

With respect to the University of Oregon. Do what meet dictators are
supposed to do: NEGOTIATE with them from a position of STRENGTH - not
WEAKNESS. You have the product that they covet. DICTATE the terms. They will
acquiesce.

Eugene has an army of concessionaires awaiting the call. To suggest that
stale popcorn and disgusting hotdogs is the best that we can offer is
nonsense.

PS You do a great job!! But 97 percent is not 100 percent - and Eugene needs
to put out a 110 percent product if we are ever to compete with the likes of
the Sactos again.

>Actually, at the 1993 USA Championships in Eugene, we had an area across
>the street from Hayward Field which featured a display showing Mike
>Powell's LJ WR (along with Mike as host, on occasion), and we have always
>had high jump bars set at WR heights (among other displays) in our Kids
>Tent at the Pre Classic. In '93, we also had an extensive food
>court in the
>same location, which was a culinary success, but did not do well
>financially.
>
>As for the food concessions at Hayward Field itself, they are 100% owned
>and controlled by the UO Athletic Department. Our requests for a wider
>variety of food have been turned down as uneconomical.
