The proposal was not “rejected strongly.”
A majority of people voting approved of the tag, but it did not meet the
75% supermajority
“The result is *Not approved* with 11 votes for and 8 votes against.”

Good day,
Despite these modes of transport being used by billions of people there
still isn't really any established or properly documented way to map
them in OSM yet.
A proposal to introduce the tag amenity=motorcycle_taxi
Usage so far is mostly limited to India and the Philippines but there is
established and documented access tagging for auto_rickshaw=* and
cycle_rickshaw=*.

these? Do these fall under amenity=taxi?
in India, all of the mentioned "taxi & bus" variants and some few more
exist (e.g. big auto rickshaws that are used collevtively) and I think
it really makes sense to be

In Yogjakarta (Indonesia) you can hire 5 different rides with different

3) motorcycle “taxi” - called a “Ojek” (a private motorcycle is a “motor)
4) auto rickshaw - called a “bemo” or “bajai”

That's what I've always known them as.

Back in January we discussed how to tag "motorcycle taxi" and pedicab
(bicycle rickshaw) stands. Tom Pfeifer mentioned:
"Some additions were introduced in 2013 [3], apparently from the
Philippines community [4], to add the following tags:
+ motorcar=yes|no (usage 289, mostly Philippines)
