I've filed an issue with iD on Github: https://github.com/openstreetmap/iD/issues/3377 At the moment the bulk of values in Genus are sensible & according with Botanical nomenclature, so let's keep it that way! I'm not sure if there is a single good worldwide open source of plant genera.
