[Tagging] game:patrizer2:* tags
Hi A question, what's the story behind the game:patrizer2:* tags? I just noticed that Stockholm got a bunch of these tags and I'm curious what they are? http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/25929985 Regards Markus ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging

It was internationally released as Patrician II (and re-released together with an expansion as Patrician III: Rise of the Hanse[1]). The game has a historical setting and features cities that were influential during the Hanseatic period. In the game, cities produce trading goods with varying efficiency. For example, Stockholm produces a lot of iron ore (Eisenerz) and some fish. Apparently, this mapper decided to tag the production efficiencies to the cities' place nodes - which happens to be possible because the game uses real-world places. The data represented by the tags, though, has in-game relevance only. Tobias Knerr [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrician_III:_Rise_of_the_Hanse Thanks for the info. My second question then --- is this kosher? Populating the OSM database with some game related info? 2010/4/6 Markus Lindholm markus.lindh...@gmail.com My second question then --- is this kosher? Populating the OSM database with some game related info? IMHO no. It would be OK (or say: better) if there were some tags describing that in the times of the Hanse the city was producing/trading x iron ore and y fish, but those numbers simply related to a game (where the numbers/relations in the end might also be wrong for the real world) don't fit at all in our db. my 2¢ cheers, Martin ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging

Instead of deleting this instantly I would contact the author and open up a discusssion. cheers, Martin ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging
