One option might be a udev rule like this: SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="iwlwifi", NAME="wlan0" So when a device is added using the driver iwlwifi, rename it wlan0. Use the correct driver for your setup. It will auto-revert if one doesn't press [Enter] during the 120 second timer. Greetings, all. I have an embedded system and WiFi works but the device name that is shown in ifconfig for it is wlx followed by the MAC address. What udev(?) rule do I need to add to have the WiFi device come up as wlan or wlan0 regardless of the MAC address that may be associated with the WiFi device? -- Cheers!
