Hi Group,

My brother has an issue that is not WE related. It is, however, somewhat screen reader related. I am sending a copy of an email that he sent me requesting I see if I can help him get ansswers for. He has a device called Argosy. It allows him to put his recorded programs on external hard drives and take them with him when he is not at home. It requires quite a lot of memorizing on his part to find specific programs. Youu know, kind of like trying to find a specific file on your hard drive with no speech. Supposedly, there is something available that might talk to him, but sighted people, as is often the case, do not know how to check out anything that might require speech. You know, it isn't in their field of training. I am forwarding this message to see if anyone has any knowledge about what he is looking for or if anyone has a geeky tech friend that could advise him. Thanks.

Carol

I have been trying to figure out the best way to handle what I am
looking for. My requirements are:
Must be able to handle USB drives larger than 2Tb.
Must be able to play DVD folders (VIDEO_TS) folders and bring up menus
from there.
Must have a remote with big enough buttons for fat fingers.
must have A/V out ((red, white and yellow) RCA outputs HDMI soley is
no good.
Must be able to turn on "accessability".

I am currently using an Argosy HV335t that can hold upto a 2TB internal
drive and has 2 USB ports that can handle larger Seagate drives. I have
been able to use a 3TB, 4TB and a 8TB hub.

If I can get one that will allow recording in .MPG format, and also has
the red, white and yellow RCA inputs, that would make it even better
with the talking software working. I currently use an Argosy HV359t to
do this but require sighted assistance for timer recording.

There is something called a Himedia Q10 that holds an internal drive 3.5
or 2.5 larger than 2TB but I cannot verify the outputs and talking ability.

If you could pass this along to some of your tech contacts, I would
appreciate it as I am getting frustrated. I am my most knowledgeable
tech guy.

Thanks, and Love,
