Go to the cell you want to unmerge. If you then hit Alt + O, then e, a dialog box will open up with tabs starting with Number format. Arrow to the next tab over, which is Alignment, and tab down to the Merge Cells options. Uncheck that box and you should be set to go. I'm sure there is a way to do it on the ribbon, but I'm leveraging that Microsoft left the menu commands intact from Excel 2003 and I really like accessing the dialog box I used in 2003.
