Assuming these are incoming messages you are reading that you wrote, turn off message virtualization. >From the message list, press alt-shift-v to toggle.
The long way is, control-backslash, alt-a, o, o, enter, down arrow, enter, escape. They also have blank lines between lines, perhaps as a result of periods or something, which I do not have in the message when I composed and sent it.
