A Snapfon is a simple cell phone. It is made for seniors thus has large numbers and button that are well spaced apart for easy feeling. Easy for the blind.

It is not an Iphone. Just a simple, inexpensive cell phone for those of us who do not need an expensive Iphone.

It announces the numbers as you press them. Unfortunately it does not talk to set the functions. You will need a sighted person to help with that.

If you are happy with your Iphone, then forget it. But if you are looking for a simple cell phone, this is it.

I had an Iphone for 3 years and never could learn to use it. So I dumped it.

It has nothing to do with a Victor Reader. I just mentioned that I got one of those also.

If anyone is interested in looking at the Snapfon, go to:

What is a snapfone? Also, what do that and a victor stream have to do with
the reader? Pam.

I also couldn't get the hang of gestures on an Ipod or Ipone. So dumped
them. Got a Snapfon ad a Victor Stream. Marvelous.

Thanks much. Well, it is like anything, if you know how it is simple.
I've messed with my i pod a good bit and just can't get the hang of
jestures. Give me buttons. I may look for a newer ipod just for the
reader.

Touch screens are easy to use. And if your ipod is 3 or 4 years old its camera probably is not good enough for knfb reader. You need a new one. A new ipod touch 6th gen.

How would I know. I think it is an ipod touch, five I think. I've had
it 3 or 4 years I think. I don't use it much at all, can't get use to
touch screens.

version of firmware I have.

Ok here is how you use knfb reader this is just an example.
Imagine you are a student in college. You have some paper handouts that you got from class that you cannot read, you also have a print textbook. So how do you read it? First you unlock your android phone or your iPhone. Then you go into the knnfb reader app. And then you hold the phone a foot above the page. And then you press the field of view report button first making sure you are pointing the camera on the bottom of the phone down towards the page. Then you hit field of view report button you double tap it on the phone’s touch screen. You hear your phone say outloud with its screen reader:

All four corners of the page are visible.

Then holding the phone as steady as you can, you double tap the take picture button. The phone snaps a photo of the page, does OCR on the text, and reads the text out loud to you. And you can scan whole entire books very very fast with just the 8mp camera on your smartphone.

And it's a fabulous OCR which is how it started. I have it on my iPhone
and can read just about anything imaginable. Think beyond a document
reader. I've read food boxes, cans, button labels and serial numbers on
gadgets, etc. It also works pretty good when you have to read your
computer screen or any other kind of display.
There's also a free one from Microsoft called seeing AI. It's useful but
doesn't compare to KNFB when it comes right down to it.
Regards,
Tom
