Nick,

Where's the so-called discussion? And who gave you the right to revoke our
freedom of speech. Faith is forbidden, but thy will be done. This is called
a double standard. If "Have a blessed night" offends you to the point of
taking the time to dictate how others may speak, you need help.

God speed,
(This is an act of good will, not a sales pitch. According to the Oxford
English dictionary it means: an expression of good wishes to a person
starting a journey.)

Sadly, we will find it more and more important to upgrade to Windows 10. I
did after I attempted to secure support from the Microsoft Disability Answer
Desk about a problem with Microsoft Office and Windows 7. I was told that
they could not assist me because Microsoft no longer supported Windows 7. I
did upgrade to Windows 10 in December. It has been a difficult transition,
but useful because there are still times when I need Microsoft tech support.
I can at least receive that support now.

By the way, I have been told that Window-Eyes will continue to work well
with Microsoft Office versions up to Office 2013. I was told that Microsoft
changes to the spell check function are a problem using WE. I am using
Office 2013 and it's working well. I have not verified that WE doesn't work
well with Microsoft 365, the new Microsoft Office. Again, that's what I was
told, although from a knowledgable source.

Hi! I hate jaws, too! I am still using window eyes. I got somebody to
send me up to the last version, since the last disk I had was 9.0. I don't
have windows ten, but I have some problems with things, lately. I don't
know if it is my computer, or window eyes, or the browsers. Mostly, it
works for me. But like I said, I don't have ten. Pam.

Hi everyone,

Doug just added me to this list, so I'm sticking my toe in the water to see
who's here and to say hello.

I was a very happy GW Micro customer, from way back when we had Vocal-Eyes,
and was dragged kicking and screaming into the world of jaws. I still hate
Jaws, and have never really come to terms with it. I'm thinking of
reinstalling Window-Eyes, but the last version I have is 9.0, and I don't
know how well it works with Windows 10 and Office 365. Anyone still using
Window-Eyes on a daily basis, and how well does it still work?

Hi. This isn't Rod but I have an answer. Your files stay where they
are. All my Thunderbird folders, desktop items, data folders, etc are
exactly where they were before the upgrade. Note that if you have the
computer item on desktop it will be renamed to "this pc." The only
problem I had that took a long time to fix was Window-eyes being in
startup programs. I did not have it start after going into Windows but
it would come up on the login screen. The WE sound kept crashing my
machine. The MS answer desk rep helped fix it once I figured out that
it was the WE sound that was crashing the system. Good luck.

Hi Brendan,

The option is yours, which you choose at the beginning of the installation.
If you choose to keep your settings, that is, import as much of Windows 7
software as possible, it will analyze your system for incompatible software,
and, if a piece of software passes the test, it will be available under
Windows 10.
If something must be uninstalled in order for Windows 10 to be installed,
Windows 10 wil attempt to uninstall it.
If Windows cannot do it, you will be notified, and the installation will not
proceed until you remedy the situation.

Best,

Rod

Subject: VFO and Microsoft

The thing that worries me, is not the possibility that there might be less
choice of screen readers in the future, but that we will still have to
purchase a screen reader at all. If a company like VFO has acquired the two
largest screen readers in the assistive technology market, what does that
say about Microsoft's commitment to finally doing what they should have done
years ago: namely providing a fully functioning screen reader for its
disabled customers. It is highly unlikely that a company like VFO is
spending all that money if there was the slightest rumor that Microsoft was
finally getting itself a social conscience.
For all these years Microsoft has sat on its hands while others have taken
up the challenge of helping blind and visually impaired people find a better
quality of life. Thanks to the hard work of all the folks who have made
Window-Eyes and JAWS the great success they both are, we blind computer
users live fuller and more productive lives. However, I feel the time has
come when it should no longer be necessary for blind users to pay an
additional cost for being able to use the product of a multimillion dollar
company.
I wish all those who use, and participate in the production of adaptive
technology, in these changing and challenging times all the best which ever
way the wind blows.
