it seems that a research group is asking for GPS data in order to
improve cars. I think it would be worth talking to them to see if we
could get some of their GPX tracks for our own use.

To be fair, I am more interested in getting the GPX tracks for OSM. It
would be one way of contributing without people knowing they are
