Hi Nikhil,
The Database design has been documented here:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Database
This is, at its essence, a modified EAV Model(
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entity–attribute–value_model). A good place
to start researching for these kinds of database design, is to look at
Hi Ashim,
If you use
https://github.com/datameet/maps/blob/master/Country/india-osm.geojson as
the URL, then it will try to access the HTML page.
You want the raw GeoJSON which is available at the following URL:

Hi Akshay,
Have you looked at this:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/PlaneMad/diary/38176 ?
I used the steps given there to make a custom style (in Mapbox studio) for
India. Once you have the style, and want to use it in an Application, you
need to select the Appropriate Plan on MapBox. In our
Hi Balaj,
I'm looking at FSMK GLUG for the first time, but I can provide some
pointers.
The app seems to be made with Basemap coming from a MapBox service and the
actual markers/pointers coming from the Data folder.
The easiest way to modify this for your requirements would be to make a

Several years back I too had had the same problem.
Increasing the MaxZoom beyond 20 is not as simple as one would think. See:

There are multiple ways of extracting Data from the OSM Database, and these
have been described here:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Downloading_data
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Export
However, I find the following site to be the easiest way to download data
for any custom shape:
You can get the list of enclaves in the actual 1974 agrement which was
signed, and is mentioned in the 119th Amendment of the Constitution.
You can get more details here:

Greater Bombay was never officially an area, but the name probably became
popular due to the Municipal Body being called 'Municipal Corporation of

India has the concepts of Districts as the subdivision of states, and the
Mumbai Region falls under two districts of Mumbai City &

This policy is for the DST, and ISRO in particular. It talks about how
government agencies to create spatial data, and share it with the public in
an easy to consume manner. This Policy infact dilutes some of the

You should also note that the entire length of the river is not a waterway,
according to the act.
So we'll have to take care to tag only the specific lengths of the rivers..

Hi Shravan,
What data source would you be using for creating these boundaries?
As far as I know, no Authoritative Boundaries exist. In fact I'll go to the
extent of saying that you cannot have boundaries, because that supposes,
that the entire country is completely covered by mutually exclusive
I was asked this question by Nikhil, who works on open Data in Pune, and I
thought I should post this question to the OSM India Mailing list
A Devrai (Sacred Grove) is many things at once:
1. A place of worship
2. A patch of forest / woodland
3. A community-led biodiversity conservation hotspot
I'll be speaking tomorrow at the Datameet's Pune chapter tomorrow on
Spatial Data, and OSM's role in it. It's a nice way to celebrate OSM by
introducing more people to it.
Those that are are Pune, can join us tomorrow at 4.30 p.m. at Thoughtworks.
If you have not yet filled out the RSVP you can

Hi Mayuresh,
I have some experience with the architecture of these kinds of GIS/Mapping
systems, and can possibly help you out. What do you want to know?
