Hi. I see the cycle map layer is now offered as an option on the main OSM web site. As far as I can tell Sydney is the only city in Australia that has cycle routes tagged up.
I sent an e-mail to Andy Allan asking if he could increase the zoom level that the map renders to. For Sydney it is currently only down to zoom 13. (At zoom 13 you get crossings marked, but not bike parking or bike shops.) He replies "No problem. I've added some more zoom levels to Sydney, and they should appear later in the week." This will probably be about Thursday our time. Can I encourage cyclists to tag up marked cycle routes (in Sydney as well as everywhere else)! See http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Cycle_Map for details on what tags affect the cycle map. To get an idea of what it looks like see http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=-33.8939&lon=151.1586&zoom=12&layers=00BFF Here dark blue are "local" routes (generally ones signposted by local councils) and cyan marks "regional" routes. Some routes have references (e.g. Marrickville council in Sydney) and some don't. You can put lcn=yes for cycle routes that don't have any kind of reference ID. - Ben Kelley.
