Re: [talk-au] Unattributed use of map
Excellent work. The more the message gets out there, the better it will be for all users…..and harder for the corporates to weasel out of attribution. Hi Graeme, There are some sample emails at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Lacking_proper_attribution/Example_email I have found that most folks fix the issue when asked politely. Just an e-mail to their contact address & ask, please do it properly? Is there a standard, similar to asking for a waiver on use of data? Re: [talk-au] Unattributed use of map
Hi. Yes previously I have just sent an email. e.g. Hi. I noticed that [feature] on your web site uses Open Street Map as its base map, but it does not include the correct copyright notice for Open Street Map. As a contributor to Open Street Map, I wonder if your web site could be updated to include the correct copyright notice. Thanks. In this case the company was using an (open source) e-commerce solution that included maps, but the underlying product used Leaflet, and disabled the default copyright notice. I also raised a bug report with the e-commerce platform. Eventually it got fixed. - Ben.
