I believe I found the problem. The river to the East/South didn't have a
relation "outer" but a member "Grand River: outer". That wasn't the case
for the East/North part.
I changed that.
Now I have to wait and see whether that made a difference.

Rendering of islands/islets in a river
I was missing several islands on 'my' Grand River while paddling.
I don't understand how to change the attributes of an island in order to
get it properly rendered.
