For what it's worth, I log exclusively using a little bluetooth GPS and a netbook in my rucksack. It works extremely well, and for some reason the accuracy I get with it is just ridiculously good: far better than the far more expensive USB GPS dongle I also have.
Also, a netbook has the advantage of allowing the recording of tracks of unlimited size. Note that I'm talking about a bluetooth GPS receiver here, connected to my netbook via bluetooth. NOT a bluetooth logger. YMMV Tim --- On Fri, 30/4/10, ty...@egunn.com <ty...@egunn.com> wrote: From: ty...@egunn.com <ty...@egunn.com> Subject: [Talk-ca] Best gps for osm? To: talk-ca@openstreetmap.org Date: Friday, 30 April, 2010, 14:15 I know this has likely been asked a million times. Does anyor have a recommendation for a good, accurate GPS to use with osm? I'm currently using my Nuvi 750 with the hidden track log feature. It works well enough while driving, but the times I've tried using it walking, the results are horrible. Ideally I'd like one with Bluetooth so I can put my old hp ipaq to use for poi logging, etc. My iPhone 3gs has gps but it's accuracy makes it useless for recording tracks. Just not sure if the myriad of little bluetooth loggers can hold their own or not Thanks !
