Hi James About your question: having a way with natural=coastline and another (identical) way which is natural=wood works. I don't think two natural tags does. Now a proposition to make it easier, because editing coastline is not easy! 1- Copy all Canvec natural=water into a new layer 2- Prepare the new coastline from Canvec data - excluding island Merge as much natural=water with water=intermittent objects as possible - JOSM shift-J option. It might create a relation in the process. At the end, Delete the corresponding relation if necessary - Use the trash icon in the relation window, it keeps the ways. Clip the shore in the resulting outer untagged ways Delete unused outer segments Tag the resulting shore as natural=coastline 3- Replace the original coastline with your new one Copy your new coastline in the OSM layer Join the original coastline to the end nodes of the new coastline - JOSM j option (remember, there is two end nodes!-) Clip the original coastline at end nodes of the new coastline Delete the portion of the original coastline you just replaced Reverse direction of the new coastline if the land is not on the left side 4- Prepare Islands new coastline from Canvec data Islands should still be in the new layer you just created Clip/Edit/Delete unnecessary ways Tag the remaining untagged ways that are island as natural=coastline 5- Replace the original island with your new one (one at a time is easier) Copy your new island in the OSM layer Delete the previous island you just replaced Reverse direction of the new island if the land is not on the left side Use the validator before uploading anything! Now cross your fingers until the display of the coastline is updated !-) Cheers Daniel -----Original Message----- From: James A. One question I have is about islands. What is the proper way to have an island that is natural=wood? Is it legal to have two natural tags or do I need one way which is natural=coastline and another (identical) way which is natural=wood? -- James (Jay) Treacy tre...@debian.org _______________________________________________ Talk-ca mailing list Talk-ca@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ca _______________________________________________ Talk-ca mailing list Talk-ca@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ca
