Re: [Talk-ca] Target Canada
I don't understand why this was done. Not all of these stores are closed permanently. Unless you plan to do the reverse on Saturday for the ones remaining open , we'll be left with shop=vacant where the shop is actually open . If some of these are in areas without regular contributors, they could remain vacant for a long time. shop=vacant also doesn't render on the standard map, so it would be easy for these incorrectly- vacant locations to go unnoticed, whereas a visible Future Shop would be more likely to be noticed and then get fixed. The most I would have done would be to add a note or fixme that the name would be changing as of April 4. If you plan to do the same thing for the Target locations, please let us know in advance.
Re: [Talk-ca] [Talk-us] New North America coverage of Osmose QA
This is amazing news. Osmose is a really valuable tool. Also there is a good integration with MapRoulette that Frédéric built, and has already resulted in some interesting challenges. As you explore Osmose, let me know if you want any other QA themes from Osmose to appear in MapRoulette. After Africa and Antarctica, America is the last fully covered continent. This is possible because of interest of MapBox on data quality and their sponsorship of Osmose QA project through OpenStreetMap-France with € 2.000 donation. This allowed us to rent a new server for a couple of years to run the North America analysis. After the new active areas are in place, we checked the results and adjusted the analysers according to local mapping usages. Nevertheless we are still open to comments (and code) to improve the quality of errors detection. Setting up quality analyser in a new area always come up with lot of errors detected - and some errors coming from noisy imports. Do not discourage yourself by the quantity of errors. In Osmose QA you can filter errors by severity, categories, topics and so on. You can look up at errors on objects where your are the last editor. You can also show errors list, exports and graph over time. We plan to rent a second server and try to finish Europe coverage. Then it will miss large part of Asia and Oceania to cover the world. Donations are welcome to extend Osmose QA coverage on the last missing continents. Re: [Talk-ca] Target Canada
It looks like all Target stores will close on April 12. I encourage everyone to help change the Target in your area to shop=vacant, add shop=vacant Targets that are missing from OSM, update the wiki, and change the shop=vacant Target in your area to something else if something else replaces it. See http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Target. Also a reminder that those Future Shop stores that will become Best Buys (generally most stores that are far from an existing Best Buy) will reopen on Saturday, April 4, 2015. All other stores will close permanently and may be replaced with another store. Please help update former Future Shops in your area. I have already changed every Future Shop which is in OSM to shop=vacant. See http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Future Shop.
